READ OUR STORY

Mikva the Musical, Music and Monologues from the Deep, an innovative, boutique theater experience, is composed of authentic stories by real women, presented by professional actresses, interspersed with both moving and humorous songs.

Our new version, which premiered in the Cultural Center of Beit Shemesh in March, 2022, includes new monologues (in addition to many previous monologues), including the premiere, in English, of going to the "mikva" (a frozen lake) on a mountaintop with Chabad Rebbetzin Hani Lifshitz of Katmandu, Nepal, and more, and ALL original songs, by Adina Feldman, and by the legendary Tofa'ah band, some of whom play on stage!

It is compelling storytelling filled with honesty, laughter and tears,

an eye-opening and transformational evening. Situations are enacted

through vivid performances of incredible sensitivity.

Mikva the Musical is performed as Reader’s Theater, which is a dramatic presentation of a written work. Scripts are held by the performers, who bring the text alive by using voice, facial expressions, and gentle choreography. There are no intricate sets or extravagant costumes. It is about the power of the word, the power of song and the power of life itself.

We feel blessed to have the opportunity to give a voice to these stories, and to develop awareness and insight into the joys of mikva, and to the challenges that some women face. We also feel blessed at the reactions we have received.

Ticket sales and donations will enable us to continue to perform with our professional cast and crew, and to bring inspirational and thought-provoking stories of mikva to communities throughout Israel and beyond. Mikva the Musical operates under the non-profit aegis of Raise Your Spirits Theatre, an educational women's theater company.

Thank you for attending our 2018 performances on August 27 and September 26 in Jerusalem, October 2 in Efrat,
January 6, 2019, under the auspices of Nishmat and March 27, 2019, in Jerusalem,
under the auspices of the Eden Center.

On June 3, 2019, we traveled to Kiryat Gat, where we performed to raise the spirits of the women down south and to raise money to help repair the mikva in Kiryat Gat that was seriously damaged by a rocket from Gaza on May 4, 2019.

If you could not attend in person, donations may be given here.  They must be earmarked for "Mikva the Musical - Kiryat Gat Mikva."

In June, 2019, we performed at five locations in the greater New York area. Our New York co-producers were Henya Storch and Penina (Paris) Popack
